It looks similar to my meat grinder but with the way you descriped it I'd say juicer.

i'll get more pics up tonight when i get home. i will take one of it disassembled and a few closer in better light.

as for the process of elimination we where brewing beer while i was messing with it so i doesn't work for grain, rice, rice hulls, coffee, or my favorite old cereal.

Hm. Have you disassembled it yet? Is there a gap somewhere that might fit another screen on it? It there a spiral auger thingy in there? The bowl-shaped hopper does make me think it's designed for liquidy fruits or veggies. Maybe it's a cherry pitter? Food mill/strainer? No idea. If you take apart, take photos. :D

Also-welcome!

Just try throwing some assorted things in there and see what it does. Hotdogs, apple, whole pecans, cabbage. Process of elimination!:ep
Does ground hot dogs make anyone else slightly sick? :sick

Try it with a piece of fruit. The spout makes me want to stick with juicer.

After seeing it apart and seeing the "screen", yes, I think it's for sauce/puree. You would squeeze out a bunch, pull out and clean the screen when needed. There were probably screens with different size holes at one point. Should work well for tomatoes to get the skins and seeds out. Try it out.

Good luck!
