My MIL has had lichen planus for a year now. She has a rash all over her arms, legs, body, etc. (pretty much everywhere but her face). She's been to the dermatologist several times. She's tried prednisone, which helped relieve the awful itching but really didn't help the rash. I've read it can just show up one day and stay for 18 months, then simply leave as quickly as it came, but hers isnt' leaving.
Has anyone had this before? If so, what did you do about it? Are there any other remedies she can try?

He ate gluten while he was in chicago for a business trip but "it was ok because I took this lovely pill that takes care of the gluten" and yeah. It wasn't fun living with him until the majority of it got out of his system
They were awful. I gave her some plain goat milk soap to try, and some coconut oil to use as lotion, and then found a tube of lanolin and sent her home with those to try and see if they'd relieve any of the dryness/pain/itching/cracking. I also told her about the gluten thing, and she seemed open to it and said she'd try it. I'm not sure if she realizes how much gluten is in everything, but at least she's thinking about that idea. She's ready to try anything, except for prednisone that is. She took it for a while and it made her short of breath, so she says she refuses to take it. Of course that's all the docs are suggesting, so she's going to see a new doc in the "big city" soon. I'm crossing my fingers they'll have some suggestions.
