so sorry! we had and opossum trying to get into our coop a few nights ago... lucky we were outside and heard the ruckus and found the opossum and killed him...

That stinks!!! When I got my 11 RIRs. Lost 5 to coccidia and 3 to hawks/dogs. I know that its horrible.

My neighbour girls lost their little 4H flock to a weasel; very nasty, and the end of their chicken keeping. I took the story to heart when I was building the coop and run for my flock, and so far have not had anything breach the defenses. So sorry for your loss.

I HATE racoons but luckily I have a coon dog bedded next to the poultry. So no more coon/hawk abuse.
