Had to look it up...

1 km is much more than 100m.
A kilometer (km) is equal to 1,000 meters (m). Therefore, 1 km is 10 times longer than 100 meters, which is only 0.1 kilometers (or 100 meters).

  • 1 km = 1,000 meters
  • 100 meters = 0.1 km

Most of the consensus on the internet is that the person who made it is trolling. It's been shared around a lot on Facebook and removed from some groups I'm in because of anti troll post rules.

Original picture it was miles and kilometers. Which of course makes sense

Yeah. The "joke" is that an American would choose the 100 m over the 1 km, which makes no sense at all. Anyone who doesn’t know metric is goong to go for the lower number, which is 1. If the creator of the meme split the measurements and intended the 100 m to be 100 miles, that should have been made clear. As it is, an American would read 100 miles and likely turn in the other direction.

As it is, 100 meters is considerably less than 1 kilometer, so the crawler made the correct decision. Thus, the "fail" at the top, or so I believe.

It may also be a joke about Americans always choosing Imperial over metric, so again it fails.
