There's no way I could afford that churn!

I'd shop at your store! I just saw my first ever Lehman's catalog and there were so many things I'm putting on my wish list for someday--it's a bit pricey for me right now. Good luck with the research--hope it all works out for you.

I know Deb! And from what I can see that's about the average price although I did find a few small companies selling it a bit cheaper. It was just one of those things I had looked up. I've also looked into making home-made 3 & 5 gallon cedar churns, locally made stoneware churns, barrel churns.... I'm a complete nut case when it comes to research. It's my OCD coming out I guess. :hide

I'm not even sure it's something I'll do, just an idea for now. I do need to get some income rolling in though and I figure anything I can't afford or even find is most likely something other people like me would be interested in if the price was right.

Like cross-cut saws.... only ONE company in America still makes them. :ep

FEM; I am feeling much better. Not really even sick anymore just very weak and get tired easy. That's why I'm trying to make myself work at least a little ever day if I can. So far I'm averaging working at least three to four hours a day about five days a week. I do still have some days I just can't go, better every week is getting better. :fl

Gus is doing great! He's starting to fill out good (No ribs showing now, but still needs a bit more weight on the hips) and is much calmer. Emily has been working on teaching him to lead almost every day. He's doing real well. I snapped the lead on him yesterday and led him all around the barn lot. (All the credit goes to Em though, she's the one that done most of the work with him.) This coming Friday makes a full month since the surgery and then he'll get another trip to the vet for his shots and a check-up. After that it's time for a farrier to start working on his feet and back to the trainers for more training. Also he's been wormed, but still has the pot-belly. I guess if he needs more the vet will let us know. After this weekend he gets to go out in the pasture with the other critters too.

Happy to be Me, I'm not sure there will be a store, just an idea I'm thinking on. But thanks for the vote of confidence! That makes me feel like maybe I'm on the right track anyway. And I agree Lehman's is pricey... But oh how I dream when I look at some of the stuff. :caf

If you or Em has any questions about working w/him, LMK. I got Misty as an unhandled, 5 yo. And, she's an Arabian, so she wasn't the calmest horse. You'd never know it to look at her now.

Wow!
Over a month since I've posted!
First my computer messed up, then the internet went down for a week or two, then was sick again, just couldn't get online for some time. I'm just sitting here today snuggled up with the Lily kid catching up on PMs and emails and trying to catch up on everyone's posts. Ya'll have been a busy bunch.

Not a lot has happened this past month. My health seemed to be getting better around the first of November but after about three weeks of feeling better I started getting sick again. Last week I was finally diagnosed with Crohn's disease. Not currently on presciption meds because I don't have insurance and can't afford the $1,600 to see a specialist, so I'm going the natural treatment route. A daily mega dose of pro-biotics, a couple of ounces of Aloe Vera juice every evening, lots of yogurt and learning what foods trigger it so I can avoid them. I think I've finally stopped losing weight but am not gaining any yet.
It's been cold and wet here. It's so nice to have a comfy wood heater to heat the house with. I'm cooking a big pot of white beans with some pork for seasoning on it right now. I'll go pick a mess of greens later to go with it and bake a pone of cornbread. I'd like to get out and get a deer, but just haven't felt up to it so far. I've been craving some back-strap fried up good and tender in mushroom gravy...
Gus is doing good, looking better all the time. I sold all the pot belly pigs a few days ago except for the boar. I guess the boar will go for sausage when I butcher the meat pig in a few weeks. Sold out the rabbits too. I'm wanting to start back with them in the spring after I build a proper building for them and am going to try my hand at some registered stock next time and maybe a few pet breeds since that seems to be what people are asking for around here.
Other than that there isn't much going on. Just trying to get better and planning for spring.

I hope everyone else is doing well...

Good to hear from you, but so sorry about the new diagnosis. Hopefully you can control it with a healthy diet.

I must say, you are managing to do a lot, even with a debilitating illness. You are to be admired for carrying on. How long were you sick before you got a diagnosis? The biological injections/infusions for Crohn's RA and other immune system diseases are really rough on your body. You could be constantly fighting an infection, rather than the Crohn's. Not much of a choice, huh? Of course, many people do well on them. As you are doing, probably your best bet is to fight it nutritionally. Good luck to you. :thumbsup

Hope you're able to find something that works for you to combat this.

I have felt much better the past couple of days. Haven't gotten much done, but feel better anyway. Em and I finally went to town this evening and picked up a couple of presents to put under the tree for the kids. Splurged and bought some ground beef and made homeade hamburgers and fries for supper.
Starting to rain now, so time to go snuggle up and listen to the rain on the tin roof while I fall asleep. :)
