Time to catch up a little on my actual journal...now that I have some time...and it's the beginning of a fresh new year! January in Northern Ontario is proving to be frigid! -25C +wind chills have me staying indoors as much as I can and I have a terrible cold to deal with at the same time. Should have never drank new year's eve...(remind me to reread this next December Please) all it did was crah my immune system and I woke up the next morning with a hangover AND a case of bronchitis along with a sinus problem. Let's just say Jan 1st was not a good day:>) Neither was Jan 2nd, and 3rd...so far...LOL!
This cottage is the pits when you are ill and stuck indoors! I can't wait for my nice breezy new home! Now that is where my thoughts are lately. Gardens...Very soon I will be drawing out the property and deciding where the gardens will go. I would love a nice big veggie garden...since that is where all my efforts are going to go now. Not sure if I will ever get back into chickens...not there, but I am thinking of maybe getting into breeding small dogs or something...we'll see how it goes. I haven't decided on a breed yet, but love the yorkies! Have to see if Ray will allow me a couple of yappers:>) He likes his big dogs. He did tell me I can have one small dog. :>) I'll just make it a couple more than that...if they all look the same maybe he won't notice there are more than one
Lolaa is growing wonderfully, though she has a hint of asthma that I really think is allergy related. We'll have to see. She has had an ongoing cold type illness with some rattling in her chest since she started teething. She is currently on a puffer...
I can't wait to get into a real house so I can have her around more with me, right now it is hard, she feels just as cooped up here as I do. We can't put her on the floor it is too cold, so all her playtime is spent in a playpen...ugh!
Poor baby girl.
Well the snow is falling, the lake is frozen...Oh I have to post a picture of that...it's a different lake than the one we used to live on...this one is renouned for ice fishing and the shacks are starting to go our on it now...hundreds of icefishing shacks dot the whole horizon! It is really cool to take a snowmobile ride, feels like you are in a small city of sheds. It is the beginning of the season, so not many are out there yet...
thee are ice buses that local businesses sometimes use to taxi alot of people out to ice shacks
It's a whole lot of fun. There are woodburning stoves inside and the women keep piping hot chocolate annd soup going all day and fish from inside...the men fish outside and drink beer:>) Some people sleep in them at night, but I don't...tried it one night and the ice cracks and bags all night...one time we found our ice shack on a strange angle with open water running underneath it from a pressure crack!
