That accords well with the Boy Scout virtues.

I think sisu is a characteristic or virtue that has to do with "getting things done" or "making progress".

By the way, I didn't bring up the word sisu and start the thread because I thought it was the most important human virtue or characteristic - just that I thought it was likely a quality needed for a person or family to do well with homesteading of any sort.

These are the characteristics I PERSONALLY BELIEVE IN and will continue to do so regardless of whether they are PC or NOT.

Frankly, being P.C. is at the very bottom of any social or moral considerations and I find the thought of it revolting. When one is considered "NOT P.C" that is communists speak for "they aren't conforming to what WE want them to say. For my money, PC all it stands for can go straight to the flames of H**l.

You know those candles you can buy in glass jars with a picture of Jesus or the Virgin Mary, that you burn for protection and help? Well I found one in a gift shop that is supposed to protect you from the "Politically Correct". I haven't used it yet, but maybe it's time to break it out.

O, that's right. It can't happen here. It can't happen in this time. I'll bet the folks who survived the halocaust thought that too! But then I thought the PC camps were in Manitoba rather than Alberta. Better add some antennae to your hat...it will help with the reception.

Sorry, I meant to 'wind you up' but not to that extent BSA is not PC any more because they want the non belivers in God and the Gays not to join. I still beleive in them too.~gd

I've never heard any object to these boy-scout values. Not ever. Some people object to the organization but the values themselves are not controversial.

All this PC talk makes me feel like I'm surrounded by old people The sky isn't always falling.

My favorite character trait is GRIT. I think honor and honesty are fine and important when you're living amongst so many others. But when it comes to survival, I think perservence, determination, hope, and hard work are what is required. I think grit is the right word for all of that, if I have my definitions right.
