This is about as close as it gets. Actually stars several of the featured folks in Pollan's book.

Some one mentioned "fresh" above.. I watched the trailer and liked it.!

I also am very aware of the Growing Power project highlighted in the trailer. Real cool impact they have made in Milwaukee WI.. Anyone interested should google Growing Power and see what it is all about.

A new colleague at work is a recent transplant from Milwaukee and actually worked with Will Allen a bit and considers him a friend.

Personally, I think FRESH is a much better film than Food, Inc., as I have said before. It is much more about answers than about the industrial food system. FI just made me feel mad and hopeless. FRESH left me hopeful.

My bud Grady said Joel Salatin, who is in both films, feels the same way. He likes FI fine, but prefers FRESH.

My library just screened Food Inc and will be screening FRESH next month, after which it will be available for interlibrary loan.

Some great recommendations in here -- I've seen some of these and would love to see some of the others. Thanks.

For those of you who care about avoiding genetically modified foods, Monsanto is trying to get minimal regulation on its new "roundup ready" alfalfa. This page has a letter you can send to the USDA to help get the point across that the buying public does care about limiting GMO foods and preserving organic integrity. The comment period ends March 3, so if you want to send a letter, do it soon.

Hey Buster....I am super excited to see Fresh, but still can't find it anywhere :/

I would imagine showing FI first to really wake people up, followed by Fresh seems like it might be a good plan of attack :)

I'm resurrecting this thread because I just watched The Future of Food (online: http://www.hulu.com/watch/67878/the-future-of-food). Makes you not want to eat anything in the center of the food store even more than before.

I was wondering with the government watering down the "organic" label, did they include things like GM corn? (technically it doesn't have to be sprayed with insecticide-it makes it itself). I know here in VT there is a No GMO movement that is very popular to try to exclude GMO crops from the entire state to try to protect the genetics of the crops that are grown here (and to try to keep Monsanto from claiming small farm crops that are contaminated).

I love that in the documentary, Mexico sounded more pro-active as a government to work for their people - farmers and consumers- than anything that has come out of Washington.

I think it was North Dakota. And the state got sued for restraint of commerce (they are trying that here, too). I don't know if it is still being contested or if it has been settled.

Aspartame also causes macular degeneration, the leading cause of blindness in this country. Usually a disease of the elderly. It was my diagnoses, at age 40, that propelled me forward in looking at my food.

Why is this stuff still legal.....oh, nevermind.
