One Royal Palm and one Narragassett!

Pam, I don't always get the sweet deals! I am completely giving God the credit and all the glory for this as He knew how much I was wanting to add another RP hen to my RP tom. I really do believe this was God's provision!

So we went up and picked up the turkeys today and oh my was their place breathtaking!

As soon as we pulled into the drive, off to the right was a HUGE pond. To the left was a small pasture with about 4-6 fainting goats that were absolutely adorable! There was a HUGE house up on the hill to the right behind the pond. When we got out of our van we were greeted by a blue heeler. She was so happy to meet us LOL her tail didn't stop wagging!

The first thing I noticed was the trees! They were HUGE and a lot of them! Their grass was green~no joke! She had green grass already! She motioned to the barn and said our timing was great, because she had just got the turkeys in the barn. To get to the barn we had to cross a stepping bridge across a small but swollen creek. The water was swishing and rippling over the rocks and it was soooooo clear and sparkling! BEAUTIFUL! At this point I'm kicking myself for NOT bringing the camera!

So she brings the turkey hens out and we load them up in the crate we had brought. She shows us her chickens, all which were free ranging. She had a welsummer, and a golden polish, and several others that I couldn't recognise their breed. She told me how she wants barnvelders and that she has an order in with Meyer hatchery, but they were sold out of barnvelders.

She showed us her quail pen and then showed us where her pheasants were. DH asked her what she does with her quail eggs and she explained how local stores/restaruants buy the quail eggs to serve as delicacies!!

Then we headed back to our van to put the turkeys in. I handed her the eggs we had collected for her. I felt bad that I only had 27 eggs, and I told her I would send her more up if she would like, as I felt she deserved more than 27 eggs for 2 turkeys. She politely refused and said that it was plenty, and that she's just super excited to try hatching eggs that weren't shipped.

I would have to say I think it was a lovely day, and the turkeys are simply beautiful! We got one Royal Palm hen and one Narragassett hen. No pics of them yet, but I'll try for some later or tomorrow. :)
