Would love a beekeeping one, since we don't currently have a forum on this subject.

Bees are like us women.....honey from one end and pain from another!

I like the fact that bees are a female dominated society, which explains the organization and productivity levels in a typical hive.... :p

Okie, I'm scared of bees....have been all my life. This is one of the reasons I really want to get some. For some reason, honey bees seem less "out to get you" than other types of bees and I'm hoping that I can overcome my fears by raising them. Well, that and the fantastic honey yield... :D

bee society is so cool, ..... from afar!
we had a active hive in the second story of our money pit house. I would be out diggin' in the flower bed and could hear the buzzin'. Honey bees were ok, but I'm always afeared that me mowin' or something else will set them off. I was watchin' .... oh.. what show was it..... it showed police dash cams... anyway, this police officer shows up to this elderly lady COVERED in bees. All she was doing was weed-eating and they attacked her. He couldn't help her because they started attacking him.
I'll just get my honey from a jar, thank you very much.

Home Canning
This is covered in the The Self-Sufficient Kitchen
Vegetable Growing

Orcharding
This is covered in our sister forum, The Easy Garden

Beekeeping
This is a huge subject in and of itself, and already covered by two excellent forums, Beemaster and Beesource. The brain trust of beekeeping is already established there, we could have a subforum of it here, but for the excellent info on the same level as what we get from BYC, you really need to belong to one of those forums.

Or perhaps bees could be considered herd animals??? :p
