We had that problem with our Ford Focus. We took it to Canadian Tire and they had to order a special tool to do it!

Do you have any strap wrenches? They can sometimes help in these situations.

WZ, I dont have strap wenches...sounds like something I need.

BUT Mr. Ben did it!!!! WOOT!!! :weee :clap :ya I LOVE MY NEIGHBOR!!!

In case any other honda folks ever read this, you gotta lift up some doo-hicky off it's bracket (no need to unscrew anything) and hold it off to the side (that was my job). We were supposed to remove the windshield wiper res. as I said earlier, but we couldn't find the "clip" so Mr. Ben did it without removing it.

:woot :woot :woot :woot

Mr. Ben loves Captin Morgan Rum, so I'll be heading to the liquor store later. ;)

BBH, DH says (you might already know this) don't touch your new light bulb with your fingers or you'll be cussing your car again and changing that same bulb in the near future.

On a Mazda RX8 a mechanic will charge 2.8 hrs. to change a headlight bulb. When DH worked at the dealership they charged $100 p/h - that was 5 years ago.

We have an 05 Mustang and a few months ago, the speedo quit working. In order to fix it, we need to buy the ENTIRE instrument cluster. That's a $300 part. Additionally, the dealership will charge 2 hours to put in on their computer to program it so it will be able to "talk" to our car's computer.

The older vehicles we have sitting in the yard (all in running condition) look better to me all the time.

That totally made me spew my coffee!! Thankfully the man who sold me the part told me that. I tell you what, if I had to go through what I went through again, I would sell that silly car and get a nice old truck again. I'm not commuting anymore, so just like you, the older cars and trucks are looking better and better everyday!

BBH, your KILLIN me!!
THIS is why we keep our older trucks. Hubby drives an 85 Chevy, 3/4 ton, 2 wheel drive. Let me tell ya, I can LITERALLY sit under the hood, in the engine compartment, and work on that old truck. Which is a good thing, considering I am short, and its the ONLY way I can reach that old engine. LOL When we had to change the U Joints...I crawled under there, and sat up, and was able to change them out NO PROBLEM! Of course...it aint gonna win no beauty contest..but it runs, and its easy to work on. And, not too bad on gas...for a truck.
As for my trruck, ( yes we both drive trucks) I have a 2003 S10. Hubby said he wanted me to have something a little more dependable. :/ Yeah, untill it breaks down, and I cant figure out WHATS broke! :barnie
Glad to hear your neighbor was able to get that bulb changed for ya.

BBH......I am glad you didn't have to remove the front bumper to change that bulb. The Wife had a Honda CRX when we first started dating. "HAD" being the operative word here. I did a timing belt and a couple of fog lamp/head lamp changes for her, and told her if she wanted to stick around, that car HAD to go! :gig

Some of these newer automobiles and trucks have some of the STUPIDEST engineering imaginable!! At times I wish I could get my hands around the throat of some of these engineers! :he :barnie

Tell me about it. (Poor Mr Ben did need a band aid when it was all said and done.)

Now you brought up another subject, timing belts. My civic has about 80,000 miles on the odometer. Time to change the timing belt.

Here are my options: have the guy down the street do it. (He is a mechanic, but just lost his job recently.) He said he would only charge me $75 to do the job.

OR

Take it into the shop and pay oodles and oodles of mula to do the same job.

hmmmmm, $75 or oodles & oodles of mula. That's a tough one, BBH  Do ya have to decide right away or can you think about it awhile?
