Thanks, always good to not take everything you hear/read/see at face value...

Still, I looooove butter & won't touch margarine even tho I was raised on it. :p
We were raised on it too, mainly for ease of spreading. Now the whole family has switched back to butter. I love butter. Probably too much.

Loving butter too much? I don't understand this concept...

I grew up on country crock (gee thanks, mom), but I've used nothing but butter for many years.

I have to share this story about my conversion to butter (from Blue Bonnet or whatever it was)...I went to this bagel shop near my house about 10 years ago - I can't even remember why I ended up getting butter, they must've been out of veggie cream cheese or something - anyway, I bit into the bagel-with-butter, & just blurted out, "Wait a minute, what is this??" The counter lady said, "It's just butter!" I stood there in shock - this heavenly substance was butter??!! :love I haven't had "oleo" (as my mother called it) since!

Darn them over at snopes. Always ruining a good hyped up story, aren't they?

I wonder how many of those studies were paid to make it look better than it is?

Ditto everything! Itwas actually my MIL got me started on butter; it's all she used and I fell in love. And in my days before checking everything out on snopes, I forwarded this on to my Dad - who wouldn't let my Mom buy anything but butter ever since! And it's all I buy too :D

When I can churn my own margarine, then maybe I'll think about eating it.

I get so aggravated when I see recipes in magazines calling for low-fat this, fat-free that, and margarine. :sick
