Licorice was my auction buy. She was good weight and everything, but no one was really bidding on her. I think she was just too small and too young. (She was a 2 yo) I got her for $200. I had always wanted a black pony as a kid (blame Walter Farley's Little Black, a Pony), and RU and I had one that we co-owned. We found him dead in the barn one day. Have no idea what happened to him. So, I went to New Holland auction to find another pony and came home w/Licorice. She's now turning gray, but she's still the same brat I bought. :/

My youngest and his pony Spirit.. Spirit was living in a trailer with several inches of manure when I found him.. he lives with Sauro now and is quite the happy lil fella.. he pulls a cart and gave all the Girl Scouts a ride today. My youngest will be showing him in April at our local horse show..he is a true black with a white star..no other white on him.. :) I always think of Black Beauty

I love all the pix but the last one just got me tickled! Spirit looks like he agrees with Connor about the mane braiding!

You are probably right Dawn... he snorts and paws when we are braiding it..lol :p

Been a busy morning.. oldest Ds had a meltdown because his favorite shirt was no where to be found to wear to school....morning chores took forever...prepared crates for the 4 pups coming back from the vet today after their spays. My house is in a state of emergency!! Really got to get in here at lunch and start cleaning!! :sick

On a positive note I am going to try to start a compost pile today, hope to find a design to use some of these pallets.. hopefully will get bed #2 finished..and start some more seed packs..

He shows him in halter and walk/walk and walk/trot classes right now. May do a driving class later. Ds is just really learning to ride so we are letting him start out in some slower paced classes. Our local show offers a lot of different classes though so as soon as he is comfortable he can try out some other classes. :)

:th living room and kitchen are almost done..just got to put some pans in the dishwasher. The kids got their chores done extra early and without any prompting :ep
Dh went to the barn to do evening chores so I could catch up on house work :love
Supper started and now looking for a bread recipe.. wish I had a glass jar to start my sour dough mix.. maybe if my energy holds up I am going to bath the pups (the 4 small ones anyway)..but I still got the bathroom and a mountain of laundry so they just may have to wait on their baths..

Made some signs for the garden at lunch..just got to go tap them down.

I LOVE Spirit! He totally looks like Little Black from Walter Farley. Little Black, A Pony was my favourite book as a kid too, I have it for my daughter :) Once she's big enough I'd love to get her a pony like Spirit.

House cleaned, dogs bathed, laundry mostly done, made homemade yeast rolls for supper and cupcakes for dessert. Rolls turned out really good for 30 min rolls. :bun

Now going to relax and search for some more recipes and maybe check craigslist for some bunnies. I am wanting a few for fertilizer purposes :D

Speaking of bunnies I may have to rehab two wild bunnies tomorrow. Got a call about someone's dog bringing them up and they brought them to a friend. Hopefully we can get them weaned and rehabbed to release them in a few weeks. :fl

Ds helped make dessert.. :)

hwillm I bet your daughter will love a pony..Spirit is a great pony and I couldn't have asked for a better pony for Connor to learn on. We have a lot of ponies here at our local rescues (mine included) so maybe when your daughter gets ready you can find the perfect pony to love at a rescue near you. :) I will have to get Connor a copy of Little Black..he would love it!

I did. It was one of my childhood favorites. I don't know how many times I got it out of the library. I used to have a copy of it when my son was little, but can't find it now. I'll have to see if I can't find it for when I eventually have grand kids. There's a couple of other Little Black books that I never read, but would like to get them as well.
