well today i needed to re-deworm dozer...
checked my pyrantel payomate and it expired last week, least i got 1 dose out of that last bottle lol
so decided to pay the extra couple bucks to invest in an even broader spectrum de-wormer...since i dont have the supplies to do a proper fecal here (ill admit i used to used the highschool bio lab to do my dogs fecals before i moved lol) and his past is so sketchy (and i found out hook worm is common here in TN as well AND he did have fleas when i got him i decided to go fll spectrum and invest in the Fenbendrazole (safe-guard)
now the safeguard powerd for dogs is almost $16 for 3 doses, with fen ou treat for 3 days and then repeat in 2 weeks, so $32 just to deworm the Dozy one....
and i always deworm the pups before the go home just to be sure so id have to pay that again x 3 for the crestie babies...
so instead i picked up the 10% suspension for goats, its the exact same stuff easier to give because i can syrnge it rather than mixing with food, it doesnt expire untill 2014 and 1 bottle will treat 250 5lb dogs LOL!. so dozer is 6 1/4 lbs now so he gets 1.1cc, today, tomorrow and thursday. then in 2 weeks time he should have doubled his weight again so hell get abotu 2.5cc x 3 days.
2 weeks later the crestie pups will get about .5 a cc each x 3 days and ill also do Ruby at the same time at 2cc's x 3. and itll stil leave me with an entire bottle that can be sused for goats, cattle, horses, rabbits, cats, even chickens...
people scoff when i tell them i buy livestock meds for my dogs whenever possible...but i mean when you compare the DOG product to the livestock product its the EXACT same thing (both at 10% fen) everything is the same...i can spend $32 on a full deworming schedual for 1 dog or i can spend $20 and deworm ALL my dogs plus livestock as needed for the next couple years!
i do the same with ivermectin...
heartguard would cost me $5 a month for jasper and ruby eventually about $7 for dozer and $6 a month per cat (a total of $28 per month...)
i can buy injectable ivomec (given orally) at $38 for a 50ml bottle and treat up to 5000lbs of dog/cat! even if Dozer reaches 100lbs id still have enoughin that $38 bottle to treat ALL the dogs and cats for about 3 years lol.
people think im nutz but why wouldnt i do it that way?!
obviously i wouldnt suggest it for people who arnt unsure of their pets weight or unsure about dosing ect...but, if you know your pets weight and know the dosage, i dont see why you shoudlnt use the cheaper EXACT same product.
anywho. picked that up at TSC, then hit walmart where i picked up some take home totes

hit lowes and bought paint...was talking to dad and he said "go to customer service" turnes out hed bought me a an expanding roller, an edger and a trim roller and they were at waiting for me

(Wannabefree, i might still need to borrow a tray and a brush off you though

)
so i picked up a little tub of spackle dont have much that needs spackling and a cheap putty knife
a gallon of olympia one in the green i wanted *yay* (it gets good reveiws as a one coater on light colors and is low VOC) in eggshell
and a gallon of semi gloss white for the trim and door!.
squee...cant wait to get this room painted and finnished off!
i also checked out petscove, nice little store, the owner is great, and ill definatly be going back.
then headed home where i got into a little bit of a traffic jam...you know your in the country when it takes 15 mins longer to get home because someones cows escaped their field LOL.
