ive been watching the cell on radar, wee got a wind warnng in place all day sustained over 25mph and gusts obviously but the big storm that they thought was going to hit us actually whent a little further east, central and eastern TN are getting some nasty storms, i dont belive southern KY is going to get hit too badly from what ive been reading but the virginias and western NC could get realy hit heavy by that cell
the wind is crazy though, Dozer is pretty sure its alive as every so often he sticks his nose against the screen and barks at it when it gives a good gust, kinda funny.
whent for a wander around the property this morning...mum and dad are now both talking about the goats...THEY want them...
so right now the current thinking is if i can pul some kind of goat shelter together they will buy the 2 girls i was looking at, ill raise them and then 'when' they move theyll decide if they want the girls and ill get the babies out of them, or ill keep the 2 girls and theyll get 2 babies out of them (assuming doelings) if no does born then either they get the girls and i get any money made off the boys to be sold or i keep the girls and they get any money off the boys to be sold...
so i figured hey...theres a meric butload of JUNK out on my property...lets go see what i can find thats close enough to the clearing to drag out...
so right now i have 4 intact pallets and 1 pallet that i ripped apart (it fell apart as i was dragging oit out but the boards were fine so i pulled all the boards off and figure i could use them to fill in gaps. 2 of the pallets have boards real close together (only made 1/2 an inch gap or less between boards, 1 pallet is a little wider spaced with about 1 1/2 inches between boards, and 1 pallet has about 4inches between the boards.
theres another at least 1 acessable pallet that im going to go try and pull out after lunch has settled, i ned my clippers to get to it as theres a wall or tiny brables between me and it, the kind with tiny little thorns that laugh at denim as they bite right through...yeah ask me how i know LOL, mabe another one in that same general vicinity...
the 2 closer spaced pallets are obviously good for walls, the other 1 i know i can use is also close spaced, and the other one that im not sure is good is also close spaced between the boards.
theres a BUNCH of metal roofing back there but im just not sure if im going to be able to get to it, so im going to try and clip myself a path through the brush this afternoon...if i can the metal will work perfectly for the roof with a little bit of putty and a coat of roofing paint...
ive got enough 1x2's left from the rabbit hutch project to make the supports for a roof
and ive got 2 peices of 2ft x 4ft osb that could easily be used to make one end...
ive got the 2 windows i can easily use
i might just be able to pull this together without buying much more than something to tie the pallets together with and some screws.
We'll see what i can come up with this afternoon with the rest of my salvage job.
After i dragged those out i whent for a wander around the property, think i found the side property line, gonna take alot of moving and shifting and hauling to get this place into any kind of resembalance of its former self though

ill get there...slowly, and it will get easier as i get the brush leared out and can get to the junk easier.
im thinking of potentially burrying alot of the shingles...
ill go around with the biggest magnet i can find and remove any nails glass ect i can, drag out and use (or trade in) as much of the metal stuff i can, and drag out the large junk (toilets ect)...then slowly little by little have a loader come in and just start dumping semi screened fill over each pile and then seed it with mixed perenial grass and clover, probably cheaper to BURY it than haul it and it will eventually very slowly break down and im sure the goats would love a hilly playground to race around in lol.
