lol Deb!
Snapshot thankyou! friendly is definalty what im going for
theres LOTS of people sell rabbits round here...lots...so i figure i need to "nich" if i want to get the kind of money for my buns that there worth (just because i and the few breeders in the area know the worth of a standard, doesnt mean the general population do) so i figure hey, most folks that raise rabbits around here just raise rabbits because hey they breed easy are cheap to feed and people will buy them...they dont typically spend much time handling the baby bunnies ect...so if i have "the friendliest bunnies in west TN" then mabe i can draw in more of the folks looking for more of a spoilt pet bunny than the folks who just want cheap bunnies to breed and sell themselves...
The last available bunny from Bluebells litter is heading home this afternoon if all goes according to plan...that leaves me with silver and strawberry who im going to pull from Bluebell 1 at a time Silver tomorrow and Strawberry probbaly friday. that gives bluebell a full 4 weeks with no nursing to get herself back up to strength ready for her next litter.
ill probably put strawberry in with silver untill the first week of may as i need another set of hinges to modify the door on the hutch she will be going in and well...ive no money right now so itll wait, and standard rex generally dont become sexually mature untill closer to 5-6 months (shouldnt be bred untill the 6-8 month mark) so, as long as silver and strawberry arnt trying to kill eachother i think ive got a couple weeks "saftey" zone for that hutch modification.
Ive decided the area under the buck hutches that the ducks currently call home is going to get pulled apart and modified, im going to turn it into 2 hutches, shouldnt be a difficult job with what i have on hand. ill probably need another roll of cage wire (that particular area has no floor in it so im going to have to figure out a floor. im planning on putting a couple of pure meat does in them so im thinking i need to figure out some kind of suspended wire floor. the other option would be to literally just suspend a couple of wire cages under there that i can unhook when i need to rake out underneath them. i could probably do that relitivly easily but it would cost me more in wire...either way i want a couple of cages under there instead of the ducks so i can bring in a couple of pure meaty does. (cals, nzs or mixes of something smilar)
my other option is to get my mits on some 24x24 wire cages i can suspend a 4 run under there easily, 24x24 would be big enough for hollands even with litters, then move bigwig and silver into slightly smaller houses (bucks dont need as much room as does realy) so they will take up spots in the 24x32s on the lower level of the mini rex bank (ill add a shelf/hidey house in there to increase floor space)
that would give me 1 of the 24x32 hutches left and assuming i get 2 holland lops, 2 24x24 holes left for the mini plush project, that then leaves me the 2 48" hutches that bigwig (and silver) use for a couple of meat does.
ill build a couple of pens for weaning/meat/fur raising
if i go with suspending wire cages under there ill re-use whatever i dont need in building the ducks and geese their own dedicated housing which im in the planning stages. which needs to be alot easier to clean. im thinking they need some kind of flooring that will be drop through, something easy to hose off (so plastic mabe) as shavings are just not cutting it on their mess. so ive got to do some research into the best bests for that (and size. the ducks seem quite happy with their 2x4 house but the geese aregoing to need something closer to 4x4 for them im also planning on the duck house and goose house being seperate entities
so thats some building...and ive also got to figure out my quail project which im thinking are going to be suspended wire rabbit cages under a roof with tarps that can be rolled up or down to protect against weather.
so those i think are the projects for the next few months. along with the movable pen for the goats
as much as id like to do chickens and guinnea i dont think thats going to be a spring/summer project, so im aiming to get the old shed torn down over summer and build a coop/get my first batch of chicks in the fall
Chickens and fruit trees that will become the fall/winter projects.
sorry for the ramble, i needed to get all that out of my head lol
oh well time to get dressed, the person picking up "Ava" should be hear 1:30-2pm ish (so im expecting him any time between 1 and 4 lol) i did her nails on sunday so i just need to grab her a sample baggy of food and a handfull of hay to go home with. and i think im going to get some weeding done in that front flower patch today.
Oh and i got a flower on one of the irises i got for free in that day lilly project and its yellow...so i definatly need some purple irises now

.
but yeah.
Gone for a bit.
