My carrots didn't even come up this year I've decided to plant some of my tomatoes from my last seedling experiment in their place. If all grow, I am going to be drowning in tomatoes! My onions have disappointed me too - better than last year, so far, but way behind where they should be :/ I'm gonna try garlic this fall for the first time

I like garden experiments. That's how I found the Amish paste - love those! This year I'm trying mortgage lifters and Heinz (though the Heinz are proving to be a pain to start from seed, for me- only have two plants).

might have to look for the amish paste, im asuming there a "sauce" tomatoe like the Romas? i tend to use the sauce/paste type the most as they have nice flavor and less seeds/more "meat"i like "Meaty" maters! i hate the seed and slime part lol.


well goats milk is in the crockpot gotta sit on low for 2 1/2 hours, then sit to "chill" for 3 then mix in the starter and by tomorrow morning ill have fresh yogurt. i need to get away form stor ebought yogurt 100% cost is astonishing even on the basic store brands and there too artifically sweet...so im going to bemaking my own. itllbe easier once my girls come into milk next year BUT untill then id rather buy 1/2 a gallon of full fat milk for $3 and make my own than spend $3 on a few days worth of store bought stuff...

think ill head to co-op tomorrow instead of today, and use today as a semi lazy day. still need to do those last rabbit hutches...

I read on 'another forum' how to make homemade yogurt in the microwave. I want to try that. Takes over night, but sounds idiot-proof, which would be greatly helpful for me

Amish paste's are just a much meatier looking Roma. Work so great for my needs. As I recall, WBF put in some (I'm pretty sure she started a bunch, but not sure if she sold them all, or planted some), so you might could get a taste test from her

yeah crock pot method seems fairly me proof lol, you put your milk in on low for 2 1/2 hours, then turn it off and let it sit for 3...take 2 cups of milk add 1/2 cup of live yogut mix and poutr it back in the crock, wrap crock with town and leave it be for 8 hours and tada yogurt lol. i figure hey i have a crockpot...and a towel...this could work.

you might look up velveteen lops. i had a pair @ 6-7 years ago. they are lops with rex coats. they were old when i got them and i never did get them to breed.

i like the velvetens but i wanted to go for something smaller...
doesnt matter now anyway because im officially OUT of the small rabbit buisness.
the 2 little girls i bought yesterday and drove an hour and a half for Died today...
NO idea why, i can only assume heat...according to my thermometer (i have a digital one hooked up right infront of the 2 hutches these girls were in that signals my computer if the temps rise about a set point) it only got to 86 back there today, at 84 i put in ice bottles too, i checked the water bottles all were working fine...
they ate hay this morning and some of thier pellets.
im REALY frustrated right now.

So ive decided im going to se if i can sell my mini rex pair as i cant seem to get them to breed again for me...(there both proven) and try to sell my fuzzy lop Pip (though im in no rush on him, i can always bring him in as a house bunny, but i could use the money so...if i can sell him i will
and then sell the last of roawns kits and just focus on the rex. haystack can stay with the sole purpose of producing a few meaty litters per year, but im just going to stick with aparently what i do best, standard rex.

i sent the breeder i bought the girls from an email letting her know, i know im not going to get my money (or the 3 hours it took to get up there and home yesterday) back so no point on even thinking about that one...
i procesed them both up and there was enough for dozer ruby and jasper to have a snack (there wasnt enough meat on them to make them full meals) the cats got the kindey liver and lungs...and the pelts whent in the freezer...

im so frustrated right now. bunnies... im a bunny murderer...
and to add insult to injury i just managed to spray myself in the face with my deet spray and now half my lips are numb...i dont like using deet but its that or swell up like a waterballoon...ill take deet...

just NOT the kind of day i wanted after the night i had, didnt sleep well and now this...

i need a good hard drink...but since i dont have anything good or hard...ill just pretend my glass of water is something stronger.

Sorry sister. We've had bad bunny mojo here too. Rowan is still very thin, no sign of any babies either. I dunno what the heck is going on with all of the rabbits, but I'm done with them too. Selling out is the next step for us as well.

i just dont get it...its been hot but its not been THAT hot...something in the air mabe?
im not ready to pack it up completly...but i think getting out of the small rabbits and putting that 6 bank cage to better use would be a better idea right now...if i cant get them to live, breed, reproduce i flat out cant afford to keep them here...and its not like i can even butcher the mini rex for meat it woudlnt even be worth the effort...

Ive put too much into them right now to just sell out...cant afford the loss...but i cant keep being the bunny murderer...its one thing butchering them for meat, but to loose them just because...ridiculous!

a couple of the babits that passed were a little underweight. bluebell is looking skinny but shes had 2 large litters so im thinking she just needs a break and lots of food lol.

and now im worried about rowans babbits, there both looking realy "quiet"

the goaty girls however are NOT quiet, so i could probably go feed them! lol
