Pink Fox: its Raining...IN MY HOUSE! :/

ive seen ALO of dead ones...aparently armadillos are NOT traffic smart LOL...
but this is the first time ive seen a live one. i didnt think they were this far north either, and most of my reserch says alabama line ect...i now im only about 1 1/2 hours from said line but still...i think there expanding their range.

I think thier cute and funy looking, i just dont like the idea of leprosy LOL!
 
Dillos have been here for about 10 years. They followed the fire ant populations northward, and yeah, expanding their territory is exactly what they have been doing for the past decade. I used to see one very rarely, until I caught one by the tail with a shovel digging out it's hole in my grannymas yard one day about 6-7 years ago, and we have seen them a lot more often since that year. They are destructive little turds, caused my propane tank out back to collapse a couple years ago by digging a tunnel under it, then rain washed it completely out. Leprosy aside, I can't stand the darn things, they're just a pain in the butt armored possum if ya ask me.
 
Yup, horrible about digging under stuff, that's why I never wanted them in my yard :)

thats why i think hes "new in town" we have some gopher tunnels but nothing neer big enough to be diller digouts...
so im HOPIGN hes just passing through and the shed was a convenient escape when the dogs started freeking out...hes more than welcome to dig under there as much as he wants if he can get the dang thing to fall down so i can pull it apart im fine with him digging under there at least for now lol.
 
We've got the armor-plated possums/possom on a half-shell here also. :rolleyes:

First time we heard one crashing around in the woods we could have sworn it was a heard of elephants! We were a little freaked out because it was well after dark and we were shining our headlamps into the woods where we heard the racket and weren't seeing anything, at first! We had a good laugh after we shined the lights lower and figured it out! :gig
 
they are not exactly stealthy are they LOL!, thats what this guy was like i could have sworn it was at least coyote sized from the noise...possibly a small elephant or large man lol.
realy threw me off lol!
 
if i see him around ill get a picture of him (if im fast enough) for dumpy and seriously unstealthy tanks, there pretty dang fast!
 
DH worked with a guy who'd shoot them, stick them on a fire ant mound to get cleaned out and then make hard hats and helmets out of their shells. Those things are hard as a rock, tough animals.
