ugh, not a great start to the day.
down to 4 guinea...
last ngiht when putting everyone to bed in the ice rain i heard Crack Crack crack. one of the lines on the fence had popped out of it holder and was in a puddle trying to eletrocute everything around it. it was cold, raining and ice was falling frm the sky, the animals were freeking because i had a hood up so i figured unplug it and get to it tomorrow morning...
well as we know the guineas refused to go to bed last night and even after trying an hour later as it was getting dark, still nothing.
the area the line has popped off was too slick for me to get to last night to fix so i left the fence unplugged.
this morning white feathers and no sign of a body...
yup, my own attempts at not getting sick again meant one fo the guineas got into it with something...not sure what, they roost up in the pine and by the time i whent out t 5:30 to try 3rd time they were all up about 30 ft above ground level...
so its either an owl...or it happend around dawn when they were just getting up for the day, in which case im thinking fox, o course tray dog/coyote culd be a possibitliy too but i havent heard the coyotes anywhere neer the property since one got realy seriously zapped by the fence...so my bet is a fox...
so now im down to 4...
the gOOD side of that is im pretty sure its 2 males and 2 females...but GRUMBLES
its worse when its MY fault, had i just been a brave girl last night and fixed the fence when it happend white guinea male would probably still be alive...
but in good news, i mved Fiver (a little harlequin mini rex doeling from hazel whos a VERY oversized tri mini rex doe and a big harlequin mini rex buck (hazels only about 1/2 lb smaller than my 10lb bluebell, and the buck was a good 7lbs himself) out of her hutch and into bigwigs colony. that colony is definatly the more laid back group...(though big wig better get his act together soon, if i dont see breeding ill be sending him away one wy or another and making it one big colony, i dont knwo how a proven buck can simply loose interest...weird)
anyway moved her in this morning after id done all the bottles, put her in then tossed each group a hand full of collard greens...figured the girls areher biggest risk, one female is her momma, ad the other is strawberry whos the head honcho in that group...so i figured by feeding them something time consuming and tastey it would give her a chance lol
stayed out watching for a good 15 mins and everythign seemed fine so...*fingers crossed*
WAS going to go to WBF's toay but there calling for ice on and off this morning then pretty constant come this afternoon tonight and into tomorrow...YICK!
show possible for thursday too...
SO i figure NEXTweek theres little sunshines in the weather forcast.
i wont drive in icy conditions...just not worth the risk.
