Puking Baby

I love how resilient I was when I was young. In January after 30 mins of throwing up I went to the ER.

They recommended no BARF, but slowly adding back in my normal meals.

Hey Free, why can't babies have the honey? I know I read it somewhere b4, but can't remember the reason.
Honey can harbor bacteria that a more mature immune system can handle, but young babies can't yet deal with, so it can be dangerous. I think botulism is one of them, so not something to mess with!

I've always wondered about that....I've always read that raw honey is the only food in the world that doesn't spoil, is a natural antimicrobial and sterilizes wounds that have bacteria in them.

I've always wondered that very thing. Still, I didn't give honey to babies or young children.

Thanks for the natural Gatorade info though. I like the sound of that much better.

One of the preferred drinks for the kids at work is a Gatorade knock-off. I read the ingredient list. It doesn't say low sugar or anything but they are adding artificial sweeteners (along with the artificial colors and flavors and HFCS). :sick

And they think this stuff is HEALTHY for kids and expect me to give it to them 3x a day, from 3 years old and up. Sigh.

I actually gave Cresta some honey when she was six months old and she got sick. At the time the doctors didn't know what was wrong with her and she was deathly ill. Remember this is 35 years ago in a very tiny town with a doctor who was about 100 years old (but we loved him). It wasn't until years later that they started screaming about not giving kids honey that I realized what had happened. I have this very clear memory of sopping her oatmeal with honey and her slurping it up and I was so proud because she was eating oatmeal. It's a wonder any of us survived our childhoods.
