Raising livestock a bit more naturally...

i just found this topic and its great!
good story pig story!

i only have the two girls right now... saanen does for milk once they kid in may :fl and buying a couple angora goats this week. also wanting to get: meat rabbits, scottish highland cows, coturnix quail, chickens, horses, and pigs.

the horse(s) will go with the cows. but other then that what of these animals can be companions?

Until we were finally able to contain them (for now at least), RU's goats were constantly getting in w/the horses. So, horses and goats together are not a problem. I know people that have horses, llamas, donkeys, mules and goats all together w/out having a problem.

Goats are excellent companion animals to horses and cattle because goats browse leaving behind most of what the cows/horses will eat and the cows/horses graze leaving behind what the goats will eat. It makes the best usage of your property to have them all together in the pasture.
