Rebecca's journal-may be time to restart this

I got my Jacobs!!!! I got a really sweet(for a ram)2 year old ram named Jacob a nice looking 2 year old ewe we named Dakota and her newborn baby boy that we are tentively calling Little Dodge. I really wanted a girl lamb, but they only had 2 single births and both had ram lambs and the other ewe was coming on 6 years old. I could have gotton a young ewe with twins, but unfortunately it would have gone over my budget. I only brought enough money for 3 since I know how I am about going over what I set as my limit. Anyway dh said that if they still have any left in two weeks I can get another ewe with twins. The baby was born just a couple of hours before I got there. He was bouncing across the pen this morning. They had sold all their goats the day before. I fell in love with their dogs one of them was blue/silver like a weimeraner and HUGE. Looked kinda like a blue lab. She said it was a weimeraner/great pyrenees cross.

Hurray on the sheep! What are your plans for the flock? Wool, selling the lambs, eating? And you know how we are about pictures around here ;) .

This is Dakota.

The pictures are kinda sorry. It was trying to rain and they wanted NOTHING to do with me even with feed so I had to zoom in and chase them in circles to get a picture! Anyway, I am also finally getting around to canning the potatoes. They are the first low-acid foods I have ever canned, but I followed the instructions and am waiting on the canner to start venting before I add the weights and start my timing. i didn't think I was EVER going to finish peeling the stinkin' things!
