My hubby likes the white rice with sugar and milk as well. I can't take the blood sugar spike. Rice is the worst for me followed by corn.

We do eat both occasionally. I have some frozen chicken breast that needs out of the freezer so I'll make the chicken, broccoli, and rice dish that he likes.

I buy nothing we won't eat in a decent amount of time anymore.

Status quo here. I did buy some dark cholate chips. Like to eat a few of those instead of a candy bar. A customer in the store said "it looks like people think the world will come to an end". So, I wanted to be sure I had chocolate & wine! :D

Soon it will be time to plant the garden.

There are a lot of ready to heat & eat meals in the freezer. When I cook "big" I do so to plan ahead. I'm always overstocked!

Fried radishes are good too as a fried tater substitute.

Freezer is full, so thankful for that. We eat fairly plain foods, so the lack of variety will be the challenge

Not a lot of changes here. I'll be focusing on canning some food stuff to make easy meals. Might try my hand at baked beans, possibly chili. We'll also focus on eating out of the freezer, and saving the canned goods for later.

Cinnamon was actually one of the first things I started putting by. If you get whole bark rolls, keep it in an airtight container, with oxy absorbers, it will last for years... since oxygen heat and light are the enemies. I figured out what spices didn't grow here that I really didn't want to be without if shtf for years, and always try to have at least a couple of years' supply (cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, pepper). I figure after a couple of years of Armageddon (if it happens), trade routes will be opening up again one way or t'other. In the meantime, I haven't had to buy one of those little bitty jars for years; I open the big one, ladle some into a kitchen-sized bottle, and close the big one up again.

If I cook rice as the carb part of the meal, I will often save that for last, and eat it in a bowl with milk and a sprinkle of sugar. Yummy. I'm actually looking forward to being more creative instead of running to the store to pick up this or that.

we used to take the leftover rice, add some beaten egg, milk, sugar and cinnamon, and cook it in the microwave-- instant rice pudding for breakfast!
