Hiya! My friend, Java Mama, told me about this forum.

We live in Ohio on a small hobby farm. I have a jersey cow that I am a slave to along with some hens, a steer that is taking his sweet time growing because he knows what is coming, and very nasty, so called "friendly" bees.

I'm a do-it-yourselfer kinda person. If there is a way we can do it at home, I attempt to. My husband wants us to make lye from our wood stove's ashes but I'm not sure I am up for that. I do make utility soaps from tallow and by saving up our bacon grease and other meat fats throughout the year. I want to try making foo-foo soaps but haven't yet.

I am excited to be here, learn more skills and ways to be efficient and hopefully share what little I do know.
