Savingdogs-Saving the chickens

Hey SD! I was going to ask you if your countdown had gone down to 7 or 8 and here you are reporting kids on the ground! What's the update on the pawing/placenta? Everything go okay?

Hi,
This is Savingdogs husband. My wife wants to know if she should reach up in there if she's positive there's another kid still inside. Also we're concerned about the time between births. It's been at least an hour and a half since #2 emerged. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

She should check if she is stil acting funny.
It will not hurt either way.

Thank you very much. She says she really can't get her hand in there because it's too small. She said when she tried that it caused her to have contractions. Also we're still very concerned abot the time between births, We're over two hours now since the last one. Any advice or reassurance on that will be GREATLY appreciated. We'regewtting very worried. TIA

First of all...
Have you gotten colustrum in the babies? Milk as much off as you can just in case you lose mama.
Any chance of an all night vet you can call?
Is she still straining or contracting at all?
Is the placenta still attached? If so, DO NOT tug on it. She could bleed out.

One of you will need to get an arm in there.
During a contraction, you will just have to hang tight and wait to push in further.

The placentas fel out on their own. I don't know about an all night vet but will start looking. The two babies have both nursed.

So how is she behaving?

Tired. Does not seem to be in distress the baby is alive and moving around inside of her. So should we milk her before we try to get the baby out?

Just get in there, and gently pull it out asap.

Do you have any ky jelly to help lube your hand to get it in there? If those babies came out, a hand should be able to get in gently. If a contraction starts, try holding your hand steady without advancing and once the contraction eases, try to move your hand forward more.
