Savingdogs-Saving the chickens

Pretty babies! They look like little Pandas! SO cute! :love Congrats!

I'm so sorry I wasn't here! :D I'm so glad there were others logged in and could help you out. I took a Unisom and went to bed early. Which would have been really early on your side of the US -what is it, a 3 hour difference?
Aren't you glad you saw that live birth the other day?

So I just went to the grocery and got enough supplies for a couple weeks and I'm ready to stay home and watch goat hoohas  I have to drive my son to school every day this week, but it's only 1 minute away. That *should* be the only times I have to leave. Lord, please send calm into my life this week :fl

We are so thankful that "everything came out alright"....alright, bad pun. But seriously, I do thank God.

Ginger is so cute. She has a new expression. Bliss.

She also is so much easier to handle all of a sudden. I guess we bonded further last night. I still can't believe there wasn't a third one in there. Her insides felt like mount Vesuvius was erupting in there! But perhaps I've never had quite so much opportunity to feel her tummy for such an extended period of time before.

How long to goats make colostrum? I can still collect some, right? I wanted to go out this morning and coax a little more out and try to make sure both sides are working.

I think the colostrum is there for the first 2 weeks...but don't quote me on that. ;)

I love your new journal title :lau

I have no idea on the colostrum - I have ready everything from 24 hours for the good stuff that you want to freeze to 2 weeks before it's gone.

Grr, my goats have found the one blind spot on the camera and are settled there. Gotta go move it. Then they will probably find the new blind spot

How cool is it that someone can get on SS and have someone help them deliver baby goats?!?!?!?

Great job everyone!!!

(I was so nervous reading this last night. Glad everything worked out!)

Well these goats were concieved and born on this thread you know!

It is really almost all Freemotions fault......if she had not suggested getting a buck to sell I never would have had these beautiful blue eyed kids. I am so glad I picked Sebastian now.....the babies have the two qualities I was hoping for ...more nubian ears like their mom and the blue eyes of the dad. :love

Okay, so I didn't want to ask this question last night and mess things up. But, if the placenta was expelled after the first two kids, would it have been possible to have a third one in there? Isn't the only time there would be another kid to worry about when the placenta hasn't passed?

I didn't want to ask last night in case there was another one in there and better safe than sorry. But if that is the case, it would have saved a few nerves... Twenty years since I've been around sheep and goats...
