Savingdogs-Saving the chickens

Okay, I must be a sicky because I find rabbit sex hys-ter-ical.

Nana and Junior are working it out. She is the older woman and he is the novice. He has "fainted" plenty already and it took him about two seconds to get with the program. She is looking at me accusingly like, "Did you really HAVE to let him do this?" But his fainting I guess reminds me of men falling asleep after......never mind. I think I will take her back out of there in a few.

Then there is Gramps and Sister. Sister thinks this is a really bad idea. She is leaping and bouncing around in there to get away. Poor Gramps is trying hard to be sweet and loving. He is such a good bunny. I don't think he has "fainted" yet. he he he I may need to put them in a smaller enclosure? My cages are like 5 x 6 so there is too much room in there for him to evade his romantic approaches.

Sister is about a week "too young" to breed so perhaps I should try her again in a month. But really, it is too funny. :bun

I'm a sicky too then, because I think animal sex is hilarious. :P Yes, I'm really a 14 year old boy inside. :lau In college, my friends and I would watch a "horse porn" video she took while working in this high-falootin' breeding barn. The stallions would flag their tails, then collapse on the mares...and sliiiiide off them like it took all their enegy. :gig And earlier this fall when I was hoping my ram lamb would breed my ewe, it looked like he was too short, so I tried to hold her in a hole. :lau Didn't work though, I guess he liked privacy.

I think there's a smiley for that...

Yes, yes there is...

PS...SD your inbox is full.

There, inbox is better and buns are back in their own cages. That was just too funny. I finally had to hold poor Sister still so that Gramps could do his thing. She looks up at me like, "Do you realize what you are doing, you are helping a rapist?" Gramps seemed to have two go-rounds but didn't faint so perhaps he didn't make it, but he seemed to stop.....I dunno. I let him have at her twice and then put her back in her cage. I can always try again if this didn't take.

I actually thought duck sex was funny too. My drake is kind of the slow, lumbering, calm kind, Don is his name. I picture him raising his eyebrows if he had them. So his style is kinda more like Marvin Gaye.....he could be singing "Let's Get it On" as he bobs his head and links necks with his gals and sweet talks them.

And my roo, Charlie Harper....he is just a wham bam thank you mamn type and he is sniffing around some new tail while finishing off. He is a pretty boy but not very faithful.

Now goats......THAT I would rather NOT watch.....

Yuh-huh ... Speaking of not wanting to watch goats and girls being too tall for the boys ...

One of my does went into heat, slipped the gate, and got herself happily bred last summer. The other doe was too proud and uppity, and heat after heat went by. In November I finally decided enough was enough, and she DID seem just SLIGHTLY more receptive. I know the buckling was able, since he got the first for pregnant easily. But I think the herd queen intimidated the poor little guy, us she was a bit taller. Add to that the fact that she stepped out from under him at JUST the wrong moment ...

Well, I ended up trying to hold her still too.

It didn't work for me either. I left them together for three days and hoped for the best. She didn't cycle again after that (she normally had short cycles closer together than normal) but I didn't get to confirm the pregnancy before the coyote incident.

It was rather embarrassing though, especially since it was daylight and my pasture is in view of the road ... Sigh.

Now, rabbits, fortunately, I generally have no trouble getting pregnant. And I have five does I'm planning to breed over the next few weeks. Going to be swimming in bunnies soon, I hope!

Do all yours have them in the box, SD? The one I bred has had two litters on the wire. BUT they were both unexpected. So I didnt give her box a good cleaning. But she is being retired to just pet if she has them on the wire........

This will be my first litters. One of the two has had kits before I bought her. The other one (Sister) is just now old enough. I need to design boxes. The older doe already made herself a hay bed she likes. I think it will work fine. I think I'll give her one that is just a little bigger to make her hay bed in. Sister will need some sort of heavier box. She always tips over her bin. I use hers to put her hay in. I may have to bolt it to the bottom of her hutch because she always splls everything. She wasn't very happy with me today. Growing up can be rough!

Where there is a will there is a way. Shiloh Acres your story reminded me of when we bred our 15 hand (60 inch for non horse folk) Walking Horse stallion to my aunts 17.3 hand (71 inches at the back) Walking Horse mare. Talk about walking on your tiptoes to please your lover! :lau

RU used to have a mini stud. He was a real Houdini, and would constantly get in w/the full sized mares. He'd try his hardest. They'd stand for it for just so long, then get tired of this little boy trying to mount them sideways, front ways, or however and walk off. He developed heart problems, and she lost him a couple of years ago.
