Ah.....I understand now WZ. I was wondering in the middle of the night if you were warning me about eating too many carbs!

Jamie, I'm glad someone enjoys my sense of humor, Hubby thinks I'm strange!

He was singing the taters song too though.

For me, quirky humor makes the world go 'round! I'm in full-blown mid-life crisis mode right now, so I'm living vicariously through you all. Life is too short to be uptight and serious all the time.

I have a blast with the family when we're driving and listening to music and I start ad-libbing words to the song. The kids roll their eyes and complain, but I when I stop, they ask for more...

I have never really grown Tatars, I tried a mini patch at out last house and got a few little ones. Mostly the chickens had fun scratching in the straw looking for bugs.

I learned ASL in middle school. My best friend and I took an elective that was tutoring in the deaf/HH class at our middle school. We had to learn 'on the job' it was awesome. One of the first things we learned was the question 'how say (fill in the blank, which we would finger spell) ?'

Then when my oldest two were in their first couple years in elementary, they learned some ASL. Our school was the designated elementary for the deaf/HH in our district, so the school incorporated a lot of sign language into school events and daily activities.

In high school they both took ASL as their foreign language and really enjoyed it.

I loved being able to talk with them when they were young privately but in public. At a loud bday party I could tell them it was time to go, get their shoes or the common.... don't do that!

I remember one time we went to the zoo with my MIL. My oldest was in first grade, her younger sister was 4. We were watching some animal show and the girls were eating ice cream and sitting way upon the front with my MIL. I was sitting in the back with the baby. The ice cream was melting and my 4 yr old was on the brink of losing hers......the oldest was looking up and me and I signed, 'Help her now! Tell Nana!' she told Nana that little sister was having trouble, problem solved. My MIL was always so impressed that we could communicate like that.

Jamie, That is what we do too. The kids have always used this tool to mock my "oldies" I used to listen to.

I remember once I was listening to that old Stylistics song real loud "You Make Me Feel Brand New" and singing along. They did not like the song and wanted something newer. So the boys started singing along and started laughing so hard they were crying. Finally my husband started laughing too. I finally asked what is so funny and he had to explain for me, they were singing it "You make me feel like poo" and then of course every rhyme was changed to some bathroom humor type lyric that teenage boys like.

Since Hubby "filks" songs too, we are probably breeding the next generation of quirky filksingers here on Dizzy Dog Ranch. God help the world when I unleash them.

Dace, I would love to be able to get that far with the ASL. I can finger spell but still have a hard time reading it. My hands can make the alphabet quick as a wink but my brain cannot recognize it very fast at all. I had the same issue speaking spanish, I can sound pretty fluent, but can't understand everything said to me.

I cant read fingerspelling either....unless it is totally in slow motion!

Signs themselves are very easy to read, you start to recognize them just like sight words for early readers. Your brain just recognizes the sign, it doesn't have to decipher it as with fingerspelling.

There are some websites that show videos for learning signs, but your best bet is to either take a class or find a real video. It is very hard to learn from a book!

Kids really enjoy learning SL too in fact, little ones who are taught to sign can communicate thru signs before they can speak.

Well Happy Easter, everyone!

We are off to visit my moms. It will just be her and her boyfriend and us, my daughter is visiting her fiances family this holiday and my brother is in Mexico on vacation. We are bringing the ham and she is doin' the fixin's. I also made some goat cheese and tucked a few chicken eggs in a basket.

I figure in two more days I will have enough eggs to start incubating!

And I got some response this morning regarding the wethers for sale, wish me luck!

We also are crating Cora, our foster dog who has separation anxiety. She busted the last crate we left her in but jumps the fence and can't be left outside either. We are leaving her crated again and I sure hope we don't come home to damage.

Well I have four responses to my goat kid ad, which is good. I did come down a tad on my price and also offered to "advise people regarding goat care, if desired". I think that is what made the difference. Now I wish I'd left the price alone, but we have been ready to sell them for several weeks now, and the buyers keep falling through, it is good I have four interested parties. One is really close so that looks promising.

We went and had dinner at my moms. unfortunately right after the meal I felt ill and had to lay down for awhile. We had been watching the a movie and I didn't get to see the end. It is embarassing to have to go take a nap because you feel ill, but they are all used to it and my mom has a spare room with a nice soft bed. I did have a dream however that Cora was at home, EATING Molly and it woke me up.

When we got home, Cora had luckily, not eaten Molly, but had escaped from her crate as we had feared. She moved some things around but didn't really destroy anything. She DID climb on top of my husbands tall dresser drawers....not sure how she did that, or WHY, and she chewed up my plastic laundry basket I had in here. I guess that wasn't so bad. But this one has separation anxiety, no doubt about it. She really does not know how to behave in a house either, she is having a hard time learning.I have to write a bio for her soon and THAT should be an interesting challenge, making THIS dog sound good and still be honest. In reality, I've stopped calling her "Cora" and started calling her freaky freakazoid. I think I'll leave that out of the bio though.

The tires are for planting potatoes in - it took me a while to get it too

Yes, you plant the taters inside a tire, then as the plant grows you add more tires and dirt/compost.

Well goodness gracious! I thought all you SS buffs would "get" that. Thanks WZ for translating my thoughts, I am growing potatos in the tires. I wanted to place them today and fill with goat poo to finish rotting a month before I plant, but of course it is raining again. I hate rain. Boo!

Who will join me? Abifae can you do an anti-rain belly dance? If I show my white belly, the sun would probably go hide, thinking that the moon is out.
