We had a boarding kennel cat that needed it continually because of kidney issues, they prescribed it for life for him, it does not harm them, it is just the good bacteria and not really "medicine" but really seemed to help regulate the digestive issues of many cats for different reasons. At the boarding kennel we got pretty free with sprinkling a little on any cats food with loose bowels.

We had to give our big male tabby Fortiflora when we got him because he was a rescue cat who came with gastrointestinal issues. He doesn't really like wet food, so we would dissolve the powder in water in an oral medicine syringe and hold him down and squirt it down his throat. He actually seemed to like it, but he got better in about 6 months and now we only give the Fortiflora occasionally. We did run out once while he was still on it and gave him plain yogurt instead for a few days, he seemed to like that as well

Yeh. She has kitty IBS .. every time there is a change, her tummy goes. I want her on daily probiotics when roommie comes back home. He stresses her but mostly him being here again will confuse.

Right now i am hiding water. The cats bith drink more if water is all over, tucked into corners... 2 cats... 5 water bowls lol.

Well summer is just around the corner and I must say at least it finally feels like we had spring. I've got everyone free-ranging out there, and in honor of OFG I shouted to them this morning to "eat faster, it is free!" I have one duck who is ....surprise surprise, sitting on the nest of only six or eight eggs, but BB was right, leaving the eggs in there made her broody rather quickly.

I've fallen into a daily routine with the other animals that works pretty well and I'm surprised how much they get to know their routine and what they are supposed to do. Yesterday the goats REFUSED to go out and free range however, I had to chalk it up to some sort of predator being out there finally because they were so weird about it. I sure wish I had a LGD. Isn't that funny, me wishing I had another dog?

I'm finding myself a little lacking in motivation, I should be working on projects but haven't gotten much done this week. My hearing is gone this morning so that is depressing, but it left the other day as well and came back, although I get vertigo every time it changes so it isn't fun. I won't take the goats out for a walk when I feel like this so they had better stick around like they are supposed to.

The slugs have marched through my garden and it is somewhat the worse for wear. If anyone has a good non-toxic way to get rid of slugs please let me know. The are banana slugs, if you haven't seen one.....you haven't seen a real slug. The baby ones are the size of regular slugs and the adults can get to be really big. The ducks and chickens both will not eat them, they would choke. Most of them have tried and almost gagged themselves. Seriously!

I have no suggestions for the slugs except to send computer nerd or trouble out there with a jar and collect them for fishing. little g went through and found a handful of worms yesterday and tossed them into the chicken house...FREE FOOD!

Keljona just recommended DE.....and I even have some! I love it when I figure out I don't have to go to the store.

What about the tried and true slug remedy? Bury a mason jar half full of beer in the ground, they fall in and drown.

I should make a general disclaimer not to read my journal during family meals, computer snacks or having anything to drink.....gross has almost no effect on me after all these years of fostering.

I had these fantasies that the ducks would anihilate all the slugs in these whereabouts.......but my fat muscovys think that the food should be brought to THEM and NOT slug tartare.
