Senate Bill 510 passed cloture

It passed the senate but it is unconstitutional...so it isn't law since they have to fix it and then send it to the house.

Okay, so blatant partisan politics is okay on this board now? At least, I assume so since this post has stood for over a day now.

Which is fine by me, as I can argue politics with the best of them. :D

Let me know, mods. I can live with it either way.

PS: The bill is considered a BIPARTISAN success. As in, both parties participated.

That line was not from a member here but part of an article.

Bipartisan screws up are still screw ups.

An article that was heavily partisan. I could as easily copy and paste a bunch of stuff from Huffington Post or Nation magazine or even The Progressive, that wouldn't relieve me of the responsibility for the content of my posts.

And the point isn't it was done by both parties so it is okay. But, if it is bipartisan, you can't lay it all the blame (or credit) on one party. My gut bet is there were a lot more who wanted to vote for it but were glad they didn't need to as it would have angered the ag lobby of their states, a common practice in politics.

All I'm saying is we need to keep partisan politics out of it, if that is the rules of the forum.

And if that isn't the rule, then okay.

If it goes to the new House next year it will be much more tilted in favor of big ag.
With the new crop of "small government" advocates elected last cycle, I doubt this.
I hope you're right but I don't think so. The real small government people didn't get elected. The ones that were posing as small gov got elected. Besides their numbers were too small to make any difference.

The numbers pretty much bear out that fact. I think it's the first bill in 2 years that had any bipartisan support at all.

Ok, I admit I haven't been following THAT closely, but apparently Micheal Pollan and some others that did Food Inc are for this bill. What's with that?

i save all the seeds i can. i have only heirloom tomatoes, i share plants and produce and encourage others to do the same. we all know that though, right?

anyone interested in trying to do an in-depth discussion of the actual bill? i would like to go through it section by section with other smart, sufficient people and really know what we're looking at.

it's QUITE long though.
