check out the price for this "coop"

these barrells can be had for FREE sometimes i know i have only paid 5.00 each but they want 20 each and you have to have 6 to build this unsafe coop

thinking a 5 gallon bucket would make more sense....yeah if you put them INSIDE a real coop

That's supposed to be a coop? Maybe nest boxes but this does not a coop make. That's sort of like the brush pile coop on here the other day...what is going to keep your eggs from being eaten by other animals, let alone your chickens safe from other animals?

At best these are just overly large nest boxes which you can achieve with the 5 gal. buckets as you describe, Elijahboy.

I'm sure someone will buy these. Our national motto is now "Buyer Beware"

It's all very sad.

Merkel's Constant - The sum of the intelligence on the planet is a constant, the population is growing.

I can't see that as being much protection from the weather. And I can't help but wonder if you'd have your "coop" start to roll in a heavy wind!

i could see this idea working well as a nice little shelter for 100% free rangers (and ive thought about using large barrels as a duck/goose shelter/nest box f they choose not to use their house...
but i agree, certainly not a chicken COOP.

Oh my. Even I wouldn't do that. Ok, maybe in the covered end of an enclosed run. There again, I wouldn't use rain barrells. Like you, I'd use 5 gallon buckets. ....Gives me a good idea though.....

I still can't get over the price. That thing's worth at most $100-$150, installation included. And that's generous.

I enjoyed the diversion. Thanks, that is a neat idea, but it's definitely not a coop.
