I have had luck with feather sexing. Never tried on pure breeds though......

Oh, I don't know about that. I have one that laid eggs, but when the rooster was killed she tried to fill the vacuum by crowing! She kept it up for most of the time the coop was rooster-less. She has now given up the crowing, but hasn't started laying again yet either. So she has gone from Hen to Rooster to just a Pretty Lawn Ornament

A line of stright feathers or a line of curved feathers but cant remember which is cock or hen .

I just sexed mine according to the link Bee gave. There are six pics and it explains primary and covert feather lengths. There was a very noticeable difference in the wyandottes I just hatched. It was easy to do and according to it I have 5 pullets and 4 cockerels.

Bee.....Speechless. Okay, I am working on sex-links and I can tell the difference anyway because of their colorations, but I'll check this out too, cuz I have RIR and araucana pure breeds in the incubator with the sex-link eggs. It would be nice if I can sex the RIRs before Easter. Araucanas are not for sale until I get my replacement flock and improve what I have, but later on....maybe.
