And I’ve read things about not keeping the ring on your jars long term because if your tab pops sometimes the pressure from the ring causes it to reseal itself. Causing a “false seal”.

Is this accurate information or is it just the internet trying to scare me?

My mother open kettle canned all her jams, as did her Mom. Great Grandma used paraffin. Have to let it cool some before pouring the wax on. Grandma on other side also used paraffin.

I always remove the rings.

The internet can be scary. Lol

It is true. I've only seen it twice. Both on things I wasn't sure of that took a while to ping in the first place. I'd left the rings on because of space issues on fruit. No air rush when I popped the lids and opened too easy. Mold was visible on top.

I never ever leave lids on fish and meat.
