Small "ethical" companies that are really owned by huge corporations

I knew about Seeds of Change. Burt's Bees is a big downer though. Love their products (well, I guess I'll be rethinking buying them).

Stoneyfield yogurt used to be small and independent too.

Do you guys think that all companies are supposed to be small?

No. Companies change and grow. That is just business. But it is like these companies that put cute pictures of cows and chickens out in a pretty green pasture on their labels with the sun shining behind it when their animals are really raised in confinement, spend their days wallowing in their own crap and never see the light of day.

The thought of buying my organic food from Cargill makes me queasy. Should I buy my heirloom seeds from Monsanto?
