If a Rooster starts crowing, but then doesn't do it much anymore, what's that about? Henry is about 6-8 months old and doesn't seem to crow regularly. I think Iv heard him maybe twice? :/
Also why doesn't he try and mate with his own breed!!! Why does he pick the smallest chook in the pen to go after every single morning! They are penned seperately and when I let them out to free range she bolts and he lumbers after her in his big clumsy Cochin manner

Then he turns and looks to the female Cochins as he never cashes the little one, they peck him as if to say bugger off and that's the end of his efforts for the day .
Is he just not very good at mating perhaps? Low testosterone? Needs Viagra??
Iv had hens for about 10 years as layers, but finally brought some purebreds and a rooster so a bit inexperianced with the males.
