i guess I'm the odd ball. i sleep with my windows and doors open and have an attic fan all night pulling air in thru the house. i don't have a fan blowing in my face but it's sure blowing across me. I'd bet some of your problem is from seasonal or environmental allergies blowing in and on you. gargle with warm salt water to kill bacteria trying to set up shop in your throat and sip a nice hot honey lemon tea. good for what ails you.

I like the fan on at night when it is hot. DH can't stand to have the fan on at night - says the noise keeps him awake. I have a small desk fan set up on my side of the bed that I set on low that doesn't bother him too much. I don't have it blowing on my face though, just down along the side of my bed.
