Yes we did get married on a Friday I do that too...DH thinks I'm weird, but honestly, it's easy to track

Foot is not as sore this morning, and I'm not milking it for all it's worth, I have too much to do today! I wish I could sit back a bit, but there is a crazy lady coming to get 50 chicks...so.....I'll be busy I need to go clean up the yard a bit more and try to be kinda presentable when she gets here.

Stayed up all night last night with my little bull. At treat time (8pm), he was fine. When I did what I call 'last check' last night at 11pm, he was listless and had scours!! So, it was electrolytes, by tube, every 4 hours. His stool is still loose this morning, but he is perky, which is more than I can say for me! After I finish up on here and wake up DS ( trying to let him rest, he did his best to stay up and help me. He is already very attached to the bull, and was very worried) I am heading to the feed mill for some stool meds. I did find out that Ice Cream should make a good Mamma from this experience. She positioned herself, right beside him, between us and him, and 'kept a close eye on him' all night! Bet she's tired too!

I have been attempting to play catch up this past week. The medication that the Dr. gave me for my thyroid, at first, made my heart race if I did ANYTHING. It stunk, and scared the crap out of me! Dr. told me to try 3/4 of a pill (better- but some chest pains), then 1/2 a pill. Ahhhh, just right So far, SOOOOO much better! Can actually do more than one thing without needing extensive rest in between! Been weeding the garden, picking bugs (having a horrible time with potato bugs, and tomato worms At least the chickens are getting lots of protein! ), attempting to train Ice Cream to the milk stand (should've already started this, but DH just finished the stand this past weekend - and now, we are pretty sure we built it in the wrong direction Guess it's easier to work the bugs out now), halter training the bull, working the compost pile and trying to get my head above water as far as housework is concerned I know, I'm no WBF, but I feel like Superwoman compared to they way I have been feeling these past months!

We have gone from 100+ temps, oppressive humidity and dry conditions on Monday, to rainy and 71 for a high today Not complaining, mind you, it's just very weird! Alternating between thunder storms and drizzle for the third day now. The garden is loving it! Sorry, not trying to rub it in to those of you still going without rain

The storms have been splitting around here so they're getting it to the north and south. But, there's a pretty good chance of rain from tonight into Saturday morning.

Glad the bull is OK.

Can't get the diarrhea under control :/ Got anti-diarrheal/antibiotic from the feed store, and started him on it. Also moved up the forced liquids (electrolytes) to every 2 hours. Will give that regime until tonight, then will do a 'last ditch' effort to get his stools back to normal. I can't stay up again tonight - I am flat out dog tired right now. So far, his stools have only gotten WORSE throughout the day He eats, but won't drink. It's breaking my heart - I have to 'man handle' him to get the electrolytes down, then he immediately snuggles up to me, nudging me to give him a good scratch under his chin DS wants to sleep out in the barn This is wearing me right down.

Well, I put in a call to the vet yesterday morning. I went out when I woke up the second time (last force feeding at 2am, slept 4 hours, set my alarm and got up to give Little Man a pill/electrolytes), Ice Cream was in the barn, munching away on hay. No sign of the calf. I stepped out their exit, scanned the entire pasture. Couldn't see him anywhere! My first thought is that somebody stole my sick calf!! Walked the pasture and found him, tucked up under a bush, thank goodness. I called to him as I walked up, he stood, started for me, and dropped to his knees. My heart stopped. He struggled back up, met me half way, and sucked up on my lovin's. Stools were still straight liquid, so off to call the vet I went. Talked to some lady in his office at 11am. The vet FINALLY called back at 5pm!!! My Little Man could've been dead by then, for crying out loud, and I really wanted to yell at him and say that but I didn't want him to hang up on me Said I'd done everything right so far (really? Then why isn't he better? ) and to bring in a stool sample this morning.

My city boy husband's true colors shown through! He told me to get some sleep, that he'd drop off the stool sample. Then he said I'd have to GET UP TO GET IT FOR HIM! Asked fifty questions on how he was supposed to bring in liquid stool, blah, blah, blah At last check last night, Little Man had pooped, so I went in, got a bag, bagged it and handed it to hubby. I'm pretty sure those were tears of joy in his eyes (or maybe just watering from the stinkiness) DS asked me how I could possibly do the things I do, like force feed the calf and collect poo in a bag. I first said that, on a farm, you just do what you gotta do. Then, I pointed out that I'd had to clean up worse things when he was little and sick

So, poop sample submitted, pills got, preventative feed purchased. He has Coccidia Poor baby boy. Now, hopefully, you will hear no more about poop from this thread for a good long time!

oh icky! i hope the cocci clears up quick, ive been told it has been pretty bad this year, once again probably due to the mild winter...

Made the trip to Sam's Club today DH kept telling me to 'just breathe' 'remember, this is for 4 months worth' My cheapskate heart could barely take it! DH decided to pick up a couple things Gordon Foods too, my guess is to push me right over the edge and send me into full cardiac arrest! On our way home we stopped by a farm store. They had cracked corn and scratch on sale, so we loaded up. I feel physically ill. Spending money is very painful to me!!

Checked the garden when I got home (after checking on Little Man and giving him his meds) and managed to get enough for my dinner. Things are slow to come on, I'm guessing because of the heat, but I had a handful of wax beans, a small cucumber and two small roma tomatoes for dinner. I know, not as yummy sounding as Pink's enchilada chicken, but all homegrown

Now I'm doing laundry (have to use the dryer ), baking bread and rebagging cheese and stuff for the freezer. Woohoo, hold me back! The excitement is too much!

I made carnita's for dinner yesterday and, man, were they spicy! I used 4 of my dried habenaro's from last years garden, plus a jalapeno, Thai and Super chili that I went out and picked from the big garden yesterday The guys loved them, but I had to eat a slice of bread after, to take the heat away! Also made a new loaf of bread for DH's lunch - the bread I made last night fell. I have been having lots of trouble with my bread falling lately I should probably look it up on the bread site I bookmarked for troubleshooting. DS is inhaling the bread that fell because, although it is only half as tall as it should be, it is very light and fluffy. Weird. I ended up miserable - it hit 98 yesterday, and I spent the hottest part of the day in the kitchen! The carnita's took 3 hours on the stove in my cast iron dutch oven, and then there was the oven going for the bread. Ugh.

Little Man is not totally better yet, but he did come running to me yesterday when I stepped in to the pasture, which made me so happy! I taught hubby how to give a calf a pill and how to administer electrolytes (the calf was a bit dehydrated, so we went ahead and electrolyted him). He thought it was pointless, because he's out of town all the time I told him to stop being such a sissy city boy and get out there and learn!
