Here is my favorite fig recipe!

Strawberry Fig Preserves

6 cups mashed figs
6 cups sugar
1 cup water
3--(3) oz boxes strawberry jello
1 box sure jell

Boil figs, water and sugar 30 minutes. Add jello and sure jell. Boil 2 more minutes. Put in hot jars and seal.
I got 5 pints.

I will keep in mind that you put this recipe here. I have a few fig trees.....way more than I can eat, myself, so I normally make a little fig wine. Maybe my kids will like your recipe better. Regular fig preserves, seems to be an adult thing.

Please feel free to copy and print this recipe. If you want a more syrupy version, leave out the pectin and it is yummy over pancakes!

If you have strawberries use them in this recipe instead of the strawberry jello. Its a different taste, not quite as strong of a strawberry flavor, but good all the same.

I don't have strawberries. :hit So, it's Jello for me. But I did use half blackberries and half figs on one batch. That was yummy!

Never thought of throwing in blackberries....ummmm, gonna try that. Wonder if blueberries would be good too?

I don't see why blueberries wouldn't work too. Figs seem to take on whatever fruit you mix them with. I think the strawberry jello works so well because strawberries and figs both have tiny seeds.
