Silkies co-parent really well, too. Groups raising chicks isnt unusual. I've told the story about the group of 5 hens I had co-parenting where 1 would hide the chicks and the others would attack me.

The ameraucana I've had were like most hens are. Slip chicks under at night and watch in the morning for trouble. Had one that would only take chicks of one color.

I wonder if cochin are more like silkies since they are super broodies as well.

Saw baby chicks and ducks at TSC this morning. But I have a hen gone broody and a dz or more fertile eggs a day!! I'll get my own chicks in a few weeks  & mom cares for them! Perfect.

Hope you can get some for your family soon.🥰
