Sufficient Self's Bible Study Group

Bee, you're welcome! Hope you find what you are looking for. I have been trying to decide whether or not to invest in an Archaelogical Bible. It has tons of historical information in it pertaining to the time frame of when the events occurred, but I don't care for the NIV. Do any of you guys have this one? I have quite a few different Bibles in different translations (because sometimes reading in a different translation opens up a verse for me). I keep coming back to NKJV.

We're stuck on the NKJV as well. It is the easiest to comprehend. We have other versions, but it's NKJV all the way for us.

NKJV for me, too. It's easy to read like the NIV, but has the "punch" that the KJV has. :hu Don't know why, but I've used it and loved it since college!

I've always just used the KJV but everyone at my church uses the different translations.

I've been needing an extra Bible or two so that I can keep one in the truck and a couple in the house, one upstairs and one downstairs.

I was reluctant to get a new Bible because my old one has teeth marks in the cover from where my favorite dog in the world had brought it to me one day....he is gone but his teeth marks I cannot lose.

I have KJV and the NLT. NLT is easier for me to understand. But KJV is more powerful if that makes any sense...............

Sometimes the phrasing in the KJV annoys me but most of the time I find it more poetic than other versions. It does sound stronger and more emphatic.

I completely understand about not wanting to replace your Bible. I have one that I have used to the point that it is literally falling apart, but, it has all my notes in it, all my highlights, questions, etc. I hope that when I die, my children will take it and gain some insight, not only from the Word, but from the insights i penned in the column, about me. What better legacy can you leave behind than your own fears, and questions and doubts along your spiritual journey? I still grab that Bible whenever something strikes a chord, my new one, as yet, is still in pristine condition.

That sounds like my Bible. I've often thought about replacing it, but it has all of my notes in it. Plus, there are pages that I haven't written on yet, so it's not quite time to replace it.

I prefer the KJV. It's what I grew up with, and all the verses I've memorized have been using that version. I have nothing against other versions, in fact I have both the NIV and the NAS here. I will use them if I'm having trouble understanding what the verse says. But, for power and beauty of expression, I've yet to find anything that comes close to the KJV.

Scripture Reading Until Wednesday is Ecclesiastes Chapter 2. Have a good day at church!

Dace! GLAD you got it! Fantastic insights huh?!?!? I love mine :)

Beekissed, I totally agree with ya! Solomons wisdom is vanity. Very good point!
Cindi, I missed the part about the Bible....tell me? And where does one find one? Would they be on Amazon?
It's a chronological bible. They have a lot of cultural background included as study guide. They are awesome study tools. You can get them on Amazon, and Ebay. They run around 50 bucks, but well worth it!
For the record, I did not get the study version....I got the One Year Chronological Bible and it was only 19.99. I am not reading one day at a time, the goal is to bang it out more quickly. I love it. I am sure that I will eventually get the study version but for now this one is terrific!
