August 17th
Glory be for me it is the first day of school.
So I walked the girls down the hill at 7:30am
Came back up, putzed around a bit the drove my 11yo to his first day of Jr High. Thank goodness he is physically a big kid. I worry about him being so young. He has a good head on his shoulders though.
So whats going on around here????
Garden is doing well. The beans and beets I started in the Fall plot are sprouting. Corn is over run with ants. Not sure whats going to happen there. Maybe when it's ready I can just wash them off.
My Freedom Rangers are officially called "Meat Balls". They are doing great. Eating way more than I had expected. They have about 4 weeks left. They will be huge.
I saw the 3 Toms fighting today. Not good. I think freezer camp will come early for them.
Today I managed to get more house cleaning done in the first 3 hours after the kids left than in the last 3 weeks. Ok maybe not really but I did get things picked up and wiped down.
Laundry goes on and on.
Went camping over the weekend for DS 11th b day. We parked 4 rv's in the middle of my sil horse arena. She shuffled some horses around and made room for us. Grandpa went out last week and made a track for the kids to ride quads on. We had a blast. The good thing was it was 30 min from home, free and there was a river to sit in. :bun
Today I am canning tomato sauce. MY elderly neighbor introduced me to a local farm stand owner. I now have the best source for the greatest tomatoes. She is not certified organic but does not spray. I go back on Fri for two more boxes of seconds.
So I am listening to GB on the radio this morning. He was talking about the Verizon strike and how awful the unions are behaving. I thought of Lori and her family. I hope things smooth out for them.
What comes to mind next for me in the grocery unions are about to strike here in Ca. When on the ranch this weekend the topic came up and I made a comment about things getting rough. My sil knocked it down and proceeded to say I was worrying about nothing and the stores would not run out of food. I didn't actually say they would. But... the last time we had a grocery strike here the food rotted on the shelf. The stores smelled and were void of employees. The SIL pointed out that even though 3 of our 5 stores would strike there would still be places to shop. What I should have told her is that only 1 of the 2 she said were left to not take EBT cards. Where will all those shoppers be??? How will one store provide for the many that will shop there?
Just something to think about.
Well I guess I will get back to my spaghetti sauce.
Roll on!!!
