The day has slowly gotten better. I managed to make it trough the morning. Today was picture day for the girls and my dear son neglected to give me note from his teacher until this morning. Having to deal with tracking down the missing assignments and replying while dealing with picture day primping was a bit more than I could handle. :barnie

I did manage to get to the grocery. I had to buy ice, which kills me, for butchering tomorrow. :frow While there I found some ground beef on mark down. Good find but could barley find the freezer space to shove it. :hide Which kind of leads me to my next issue. I need to process a ton of birds tomorrow and both my freezers are full. Well one will have a bit of room when the ice comes out. But I don't think it will be enough.

I know I shouldn't complain.

I plan to leave the birds at rest for many many many moons so I don't have any rigamortis issues this time. that should give me a couple days to solve the freezer issues. If not I will be canning most of the chicken. :th

I did manage to get some potatoes processed. Today I cubed 10 lbs for breakfast scrambles. I had them in the hot water when I got a call from the Jr high. DS twisted his knee playing foot ball at lunch and wanted to come home. :duc

Well that leads me to this afternoon and lasagnas. I know there's no relation but that's whats going on in the kitchen today. Oh that and I bottled and then started a new batch of kombucha. I do two gallons at a time and they last a couple weeks. Love that stuff.

Well I guess I should check my noodles.

This day has finally come to an end. I finished my evening by moving another 15 or so birds up to the house. Some of those boys sure have filled out. Tomorrow will be a busy day.

If you need to fit a lot of meat in a little space, consider spatchcocking them, parting them up or even de-boning them! You can fit a lot more meat in the space you have that way. ;)

Good morning FF. I have never heard that term before."spatchcocking". I do figure on cutting them up into what I call family packs.

I have been up since 3am. Coyotes came through the yard and woke the chickens. I opened the back door to see dog ran out. Ugh..

All quiet now but I'm up. Way too early.

Wow, I just watched a youtube video on spatchcocking. Very cool. I wonder if my sheers are sharp enough?

I will have to try.

Interesting, I usually just quarter and end up with a package similar to that. I'd be interested in hearing how it worked out for you - I sent 30 meaties to the processor a week from Tuesday.
