Texas

Houston sounds like it's as much fun as Boston. Terrible driving! I've never heard of Blue Bell... now I want to try it!
 
That Texas food pyramid could put the Blue Bell on top of the pecan pie and had room for sweet tea! Blue Bell is a Texas institution.

I learned to drive in Houston, NOTHING fazes me.

I contracted at the penzoil black towers in downtown Huston for 6 months. Flew in to on Monday, flew out on Friday. Huston is on jacked up place to drive but has the best black beans and rice over cornbread of anywhere on the entire planet. I must admit it was pretty cool walking the tunnels under Huston though. People I worked with had a huge Cajun influence.
 
There is anything you want and a whole lot that you never knew you wanted in Houston. There is every type of food from countries and ethnic groups around the world. I miss the Museum of Natural Science, we drove from Livingston a half dozen times a year to go there. The zoo was like going on safari. It is a big, sprawling traffic hell, but it is an interesting city.
 
I drive in Houston. It's not nearly as bad as Austin! If you can stay away from rush hour it's not hard to get through the city. There are a gazillion ways to get somewhere so there's always an alternative.. DH knows Houston like the back of his hand so if I have him navigating we can get anywhere we need to go. The museum is great - and huge! There's a really cool little museum annex in Sugarland. We took our students to both. Most moving museum I've ever been to is the Holocaust museum. You can't go through there and not come out just a little bit different.

I haven't been to the zoo in years but DH and I just decided to try and go Monday or Tuesday. Yay - excited about that!

The on/off ramps are the craziest things I every seen. You mean in order to get off this highway to hell I really got to drive up this 30' tall crazy curvy road to get onto another highway to hell? The reason I say highway to hell is because Good Lord is it hot in Texas where else would you think your going?

The Dallas airport is crazy too... You have to take a train to get from one terminal to another. I hated that every Monday layover in Dallas to fly to huston. But on Fridays it was a single flight from Huston to O'Hare so that was nice.

You all can keep your Texas driving. We did enough with all the trips from Virginia to see hubby's parents in Kirbyville. We'd drive over to Houston to see his great uncle. With were we live now, we have to fly into Houston and his brother picks us up and drives back to Jasper.

Hubby's younger brother was 16 when his parents moved down to his paternal great grandparents house. It's been about 25 years now and his brother sounds Texan not West Virginian. Mother's side is large and all from West Virginia.
 
What happens if it snows in Texas, does everyone stay home until it melts? Seriously my New England brain is not thinking a plow truck would like those roads 😂

The smart ones do! I can't tell you how many idiots will still try to drive over the "flyovers" (that's what we call the really tall, scary ones) when they are iced or snowy. The videos of them sliding down backwards are crazy as he__!
