the little wild kingdom

a friend passed away Saturday. it is very strange because this was expected eventually as she had ALS, but she wasn't doing that badly a few weeks ago, but that is all i can really say here. RIP Nancy. she was an unexpected friend and will be missed.

weather last night was pretty heavy and i went to sleep right after a few minutes of when it started up with the thunder, lightning and some initial hail. since the hail stopped pretty quickly i didn't worry about it and went to sleep. the rain was beating against the patio doors and windows pretty hard as i went to sleep but i wasn't worried about any of it.

this morning i found out that a tornado had probably been pretty close or even overhead but not formed enough that i noticed any kind of pressure change or the heavy rain or hail. it reached the ground and did some damage some miles to the eastish of us. no damage at all here but plenty of rain (again that we didn't need). glad to say only minor injuries reported.

more rains in the forecast for the next few days yet.

did a little spider patrol and reorganizing my room a bit now that i am getting on towards planting season.

i'm glad i could head the spiders off from letting all those babies out. they were still in the egg sac stage and getting bigger to where they could have gotten going on their own so by doing this now i headed off a few hundred little ones before they could vamoose!

this does make a difference in the longer run because i am not finding as many others out and around. checking about every three months is seeming to be a good interval.

we have a lot of flowers out now, the daffodils and hiacynths and earliest tulips are out now. some of the bushes are also budding out.

weather forecast still has frozen nights incoming.

hopefully we get less rain here for a bit so the rivers can go down and the fields and ditches can drain.
