aka flowerbug's chaos, methods and whatever bits that stick along the journey...

i'm not going to duplicate all of my posts here from my thread at TEG or my website so you have your homework set for you if you really want to follow closely. oh, also my thread on the permaculture site which is broken a bit at the moment until i fix it (again! grr!)...

first of all:

TEG: https://www.theeasygarden.com/threads/stubbed-toes-and-mud-pies.21224/
Website: http://www.anthive.com/
Permies: https://permaculturenews.org/forums/index.php?threads/songbirds-roost.12530/

if that isn't enough i have plenty of other links that will take you a long time to work through
all those resources and reading suggestions... ;)

these last two show only a few of the projects i have followed for years to show what is possible in even some of the worst conditions.

making progress on bean sorting and cleaning up my mess here in my room. :) i still have my list of things to do in my head and try to keep my priorities straight.

yesterday i started getting ready to work on the website, when i set it up a while ago the theme i used was pretty direct/simple and easy to use. so it worked. then i've forgotten it and kept adding to it, but i have not been following the development of the theme or making changes to it as it has been updated by the author so i'm quite a ways behind now. so it will be some fun to figure that out and decide if i want to continue with that and upgrade it or if i want to do something else. no idea how much work it will involve.

also getting camera widgets and accessories shopped for even knowing what to call what i am looking for. need to be ready to take pictures as soon as i am done sorting or at least that would be the logical goal there. i may hold off a bit yet. i go through periods of procrastinating and pondering interspersed with research and studying on buying something before i finally just do it.

not too much getting done outside with the snows/rains, but i may be lucky enough this coming few days to get outside and do something, anything! just to get out and move, go for a walk, move some rocks around, level a bit of a garden i messed up, etc.

Cool that you can do that!

it would have taken me a week or two to do it by hand. but the other fun thing is that the program i wrote might help someone else out in the same spot so i put it on github and then let the author of the hugo theme know about it too.

some pictures from various places on the website that i've updated a bit and made other changes.

1) we'll start with the green worm.

2) irish moss that i though was a weed i wanted to get rid of. i've decided to try it out in a spot where i can keep a closer eye on it. it looks so scraggly because i almost weeded it out entirely before it regrew last fall. so now i'll keep it and see how it does in a different location (a tougher place perhaps too). we'll see...

3) frog and toad sky scraper

4) deer topiary

5) earliest flower this season

6) closely followed by the crocuses - deer/rabbits already eating them

7) what i'm starting to work on now

8) north garden from the top SW corner showing how the creeping thyme is filling in

9) from the opposite corner showing all the daffodils coming up that i moved last year

Dang, it's so pretty! Mine is very utilitarian. I'm working on adding more flowers and other pretties though

Love what you’ve done with the place! ;)

it was done over the past 23+yrs, none of it really planned. a lot of retrofitting by me to make it easier to care for whenever i can get around to it. Mom just does things at times and there is no engineering or thinking of consequences. it can be really a lot more work than it would need to be. oh well, it keeps me busy. :)
