Can you tap hickories? We only tap our sugar maples.... the most we have on one tree are two taps.... We have 18 taps right now, and my dad needs to boil it down!!!!

ordered my seeds just now from baker creek! i'm so excited!!!
i was going to order from a different site but the are not taking more orders until march. so i ordered from baker creek. they have some things the other site didnt have (amaranth, quinoa) but there are quite a few herbs that i will have to wait for because baker creek doesnt have them. so here is what i ordered:

ha ha! i have lots of questions on the quinoa and amaranth!
so does it have the same care needs basically as corn?
any tips or suggestions for these two will be welcome!

*i've never done the tap thing. but some amish around do and it smells sooo good when they cook it down! :drool

Yes, and walnut too. Though they are not as sweet as maple...they are all I have :hu I'll take it! ;)

We have a few hickories, I LOVE their shaggy bark and just what they look like :)

I have the Shagbark Hickories too, and the sap is sweet..I tasted it the other day :) There are several kinds of hickories. some called pig nut hickories, because the shells are so thick on the nuts they are only good to fatten hogs on :lol: I have some of those as well. Can't wait to get a hog to eat them! :D Free bacon! :drool

OKAY, I couldn't take it any more. :rolleyes:

I "found" a little 18 by 8 inch flower planter type thingie in the garage. I now have a dozen or so scallions and about 6 or so spinach seeds in there sitting in the sun by the front room window. Just wanting to see something green soon.....

My broccoli plants are dying :hit My beefsteak tomatoes still have not come up, and the Tabasco peppers haven't either. :hu The two MOST important crops...peppers and tomatoes...I am having trouble with :(

noooooo!!!!!!! in your indoor starters, or in the garden?
Indoors. all my stuff outside is lookin great! The started tomatoes and peppers INSIDE is not looking to hot. I have bell peppers, but not hot peppers and I have cherry tomatoes, but not my big beefsteak tomatoes. :(
