Came home from the son's ball game tonight to find the two rows of early corn GONE. Something went down the rows and plucked and ate just about every shoot/stalk. No discernable tracks in the dirt to give me any clue on who did it.

The corn picture in the previous post is now removed.

I am SO sorry Jamie... :/

I'm debating whether or not to try some early corn seed and replanting. The late corn hasn't started up yet, so I have to devise something to protect it.

It happened during the day, so I'm guessing crows or Alice (one of the hens) who got out today....

Long story short, I'm taking the afternoon off to go pick strawberries with the kids tomorrow, so I'll have a decision made and done tomorrow night on what to do with the corn.

Sorry to hear that FJ. My guess would be crows.

TR and I were just talking to our friend B the other day at her greenhouse. B lost corn the last 2 years to crows; they eat it the young green tops off the seed. B now has deer fence all around and over the top of her corn field to keep the crows out of it until it is 8 to 10 inches tall.

ETA: That would keep chickens out as well.
