Good point Pa Tater.

Tonight I got my orchard fenced (temporarily) and mulched and dressed. :D

Discipline and Perseverance

:)

I'm trying to make my berry patch and orchard dependable. I will see if it paid off in a few years.

Picked up 24 asparagus roots, and 3 horseradish roots today while we were out. Closer to the Survival Garden....

Sweet potatoes would be another crop if I could store them long enough. Besides the potatoes, the leaves are also edible, rather like a sweeter spinach and can be used in salads during the hotter weather after other lettuces have bit the dust.

I recently heard that you can get as many as 50 slips from one potato. You probably could keep some slips throughout the winter in a few jars of water. They'd make a pretty houseplant.

I love sweet potatoes. They are easy to grow and propagate. Plus they are tasty.

Your location is going to limit your choices, particularly for us Yankees. Want to pick a more specific location?

I don't mean this as a comparison. I meant to present this thread as a way for everyone to evaluate their skill sets, offer tips and suggestions, etc. to better prepare themselves.
