well it is the time of year for fiddleheads...
in the past I have collected them and it is an easy...scrape...
but the ones around here are quite furry...
honestly seemed like 2 hours...scraping and bearly enough for dinner...
still tons to go...
and as much as I love them...I dont' want to make it my life...preparing fiddleheads...
any suggestions...???

I LOVE fiddleheads...

usually I just buy them from a neighbour who goes out and collects them, so they are all ready for dinner... just rinse off, saute and done :)

I used to haul about 5 gallons out at a time... I wish I was back in the northeast now. Alright, to help with your question I would make up a little box screen. I like something with a little bigger holes than a regular screen. You can place you little box with screen bottom on top of a box fan and dump in your fiddleheads. don't over fill it because the air won't be able to come up and blow the husks off. This works pretty well. If you don't have a box fan just take the screen and hose them down while shaking the screen. Kinda scrubbs them off.

Here is a link for recipes and tips on storage. My alma mater has a pretty good extension site.
