I had barely any feed bill during the summer when I gave them grasses and clippings. they got a select few kitchen scraps and clippings for the most part. The pregnant does would eat about 1/4 cup of pellets along with that, but the bucks had clippings only. I run the mower about 10 minutes every day for them to have plenty.

HEchicken, was there wire on the bottom to keep them from digging out?
Yes! They were able to get the grass through the wire but not dig out. And, poop for the most part was able to fall through the wire to fertilize the yard, although it did occasionally build up in the corners and we'd have to get in there and clean it out. Overall though, they were pretty easy keepers.

Is grass fed rabbit tasty? :drool
Actually back then they were just pets. Now I kind of want to expand to meat rabbits but have two problems:
1. Although I'm fine with processing chickens and have no issue with the theory of processing a rabbit, I just don't know how to go about it; and
2. DD (15) is adamant that no fluffy, cute, little rabbits will be offed around here.

A third concern is that our rather small backyard is already at capacity with our chicken flock. So far the chooks have not completely decimated the greenery but I'm afraid if they had to compete with rabbits for the same forage, we'd soon have nothing left to offer either.
